Associated TP6: Impact of diet on autoimmunity
In modern developed countries prevalence of autoimmune and chronic inflammatory diseases is 5-8%. These diseases strongly affect the life quality of patients and lead to a high socio-economical burden. In spite of modern therapeutic options, autoimmune diseases are still difficult to treat or cause severe complications. It has been shown, that some intrinsic factors (gender, HLA-haplotype), but also environmental factors (diet, infections, exposure to toxins etc.) can modify autoimmune diseases.
Hence we will here experimentally adress the impact of diet on the manifestation of autoimmunity.
